The new green wheelie binsThe green wheelie bins (two months late) have arrived in Stately Terrace Framlingham.  The lids don't close properly but the leaflet says we're not to worry about that, there's a hidden tag (presumably RFID?) to identify individual bins and there will be one more collection of the brown bin.  We asked if deliveries will continue into October and the driver's mate opined It's going to take a while.

Framlingham 27-27 RGS Colchester second XVsYesterday Royal Grammar School Colchester put up four rugby teams against Framlingham College.  When we arrived maybe halfway through the first half of the second XVs an injured RGS player was getting gas and air and RGS were losing 20-00.  Some disorganisation with Fram losing possession for dithering over who would take a throw in and a RGS player temporarily sent off for a tackle which he maintained hadn't been him.  Surprisingly a 27-27 draw in the end.  Fram play Tommy Mills U15s and U14s tomorrow afternoon.

Preparation for The Framlingham Flyers' 10kWe were planning to visit the Burston Strike School rally today but got distracted by the Framlingham Flyers' 10k.  Some 400 entrants, loads of marshals and helpers, selection race for Suffolk County, the smallest and youngest water person we've yet seen and we heard that the course record was broken, probably by this bloke.  It'll have to be Burston next year then ...

National Youth Choirs GB on the Market Hill FramlinghamWe missed maybe half of the pop up National Youth Choirs GB concert on the Market Hill Framlingham yesterday because like Darren we thought it started at 12:30pm.  In the event the choir were excellent and drew a large crowd that spilled over in to the road to the mutual annoyance of some drivers and some pedestrians.  The choir plays the Snape Proms tomorrow night.

Framlingham Gala PrincessesHow kind that the sun shone yesterday on Framlingham Sports Club's 70th Gala, it has suffered from the weather in past years.  With no entry charge this year the Castle Meadow was heaving and in the traditional English day out manner there were inevitably queues ... though the second time we passed the the portable toilets the queue had dwindled to one.  Some surprisingly musically able young people on the stage in the corner whom we totally failed to find out names and the music went on enjoyably whilst later we ate supper out in the garden.

Rive Ore highAround Framlingham the River Ore seems surprisingly high for the rain we've had and the Fen Meadow is sodden.  The Framlingham river monitor (where New Road crosses the river at the far end of the College's sports field) sort of supports our supposition that rain when in bed is less noticed.

Sara Allin in 2007 at the Munchbox CafeIf you've been around Framlingham long enough you may remember that what's now the Common Room was once Graham King Watchmakers then very briefly an Indian takeaway before Sara and Pete Allin re-opened it as The Munchbox Cafe.  They made it a welcoming meeting place serving very reasonably priced straight ahead food and it soon gathered a fan club.  Tragically in 2006 Pete had a fatal heart attack in the kitchen.  A year later Sara understandably moved on.  We were much saddened to learn this week that Sara still only in her forties passed away in June from breast cancer ... taken far too soon.

Odd 'Diverted traffic' sign in Fairfield Road FramlinghamConsidering Fairfield Road Framlingham is closed for two months between Fairfield Crescent and Brick Lane there's more traffic than you might expect at the Fore Street end.  The Diverted traffic sign at the Fore Street junction (and there's a second sign as well) seems oddly unneeded.  Is it to tell the residents of The Knoll and Fairfield Road how to get to Brick Lane?
