Seven lawn mowers stolen in Snape

Police are appealing for witnesses after seven lawn mowers were stolen from an outbuilding at a church in Snape.

At some point between 4.40pm on Wednesday 19 August and 7.30am yesterday, Thursday 20 August, locks and chains were cut and entry was gained into an outbuilding at St John the Baptist Church in Farnham Road. Once inside, seven petrol lawn mowers were stolen.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary at a church in Snape.

Shane Phillips, 25, of New Street, Stradbroke was arrested on Friday 21 August and was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre, where he was questioned.

All four petrol lawn mowers were also recovered. Phillips was subsequently charged with burglary and for breaching a bail condition in relation to a separate incident. Phillips appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 22 August and is next due to appear at Great Yarmouth Magistrates’ Court on 21 October.

It has since been confirmed that four not seven lawn mowers were stolen and later recovered.
