su 31 Oct 2021 | Yesterday the second night of the Fat Band's reunion in memory of James Holloway so fully filled Charsfield's village hall we didn't even try to get to the bar. Lots of the extended family took a turn with Polly Gibbons' and Hal Keys-Holloway's voices particularly impressing us. Surprisingly a medley of twist songs prompted the most fulsome and energetic dancing. |
th 19 Dec 2019 | Charsfield – Mercedes colliding with horse failed to stop Police are appealing for witnesses after a vehicle failed to stop following a collision in Charsfield. The incident occurred shortly after 3.35pm today, Thursday 19 December, on the B1078, Ipswich Road. A 19-year-old female horse rider was walking with her horse at the side of the road when they were involved in a collision with a car, described as being a blue/silver Mercedes. The driver of the car did not stop at the scene to exchange details. As a result of the incident, the horse rider sustained minor injuries and the horse was believed to be uninjured. Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or directly after it, or anyone who may have captured any dash-cam footage of a blue/silver vehicle travelling between Wickham Market and Otley this afternoon. |

th 28 Jan 2010 | Tuesday PCSO Christian Hassler spoke at Charsfield primary school to the children, staff, some parents, police education officer PC Paul Downey and two visiting civilian road safety officers about road safety ... so no pressure there then. His words were applauded and stickers and dayglo bags distributed, but the hot bit is the school's own road safety officers Charlotte and George joined Christian outside to speed check passing traffic. In the school's quietly idyllic setting not a lot of cars but enough to practice on. |
th 13 Oct 2005 Bangers & Cash | Charsfield Horseshoes des' dinners 52 Straightforward menu, four real beers which change regularly and Emma and Martin have made the pub over so it feels brighter, more open and fresher. Lunchers were Matt, NaTCH, The Brewer's Mum and The Brewer who much interested NaTCH with the news that Andy Tiernan over the weekend had bought at a German auction a 1915 2.5ltr French motorbike set up for pacing bicycle racing. As soon as he got home NaTCH went round to Andy's and photographed the exotic thing. AfAR from Hugh who's on the Isle of Skye. (previous visit ↓ subsequent lunch previous lunch) |
tu 10 Jun 2003 | Charsfield Horseshoes des' dinners 37 Again there was a faint air of chaos about Spadge, Goddess Steph, Matt and NaTCH as they reversed into the Horseshoes' car park. Gargantuan servings of stir fry vegetables, and steak and kidney pie defeated them all, whilst on form London Pride (in suitably badged glasses) was enjoyed, Abbot and Adnams also being served. Conversation included the unlikely fact that Spadge met the late Queen Mother by gate crashing a party. No, we didn't believe it either but apparently it's true. AfARs from Hugh, David (work commitments), and possibly others. (previous visit ↓ subsequent lunch previous lunch) |
we 14 Feb 2001 | Charsfield Horseshoes des' dinners 11 A nice sunny day for attendees Andy and NaTCH. Excellent and generous food. The Speckled Hen was a bit disappointing and the coffee gutless but the Low House bitter was fine. Conversation included "Why is Town's new PA costing a quarter of a million?" and Andy's discovery as a nipper that in Belfast fish and chips is served with fruit ... a slice of lemon. Apologies for absence received from Hugh (he now has offices in Ipswich and is going to find it difficult to attend future lunches), Spadge (entertaining overseas customer) and John FH (unwell). (first visit subsequent lunch previous lunch) |
