of youthful enthusiasm. This year it's Alice
in Wonderland with
four performances over the weekend at the
Halesworth Cut and we're lucky enough to be
photographing the dress rehearsal.

Oil City Slickers, an appreciation of Dr Feelgood
presented by Stephen Foster. Saw Dr Feelgood in a
later manifestation somewhere the other side of the A14 and they
certainly rocked our world despite a slightly errant pa.

 Last
night at the Halesworth Cut Lovesong
uses the conceit that the young and more senior couples
appearing together on stage are the same people.
Slightly period with an iPod figuring and
four! dentists in the town the
play intriguingly wafts about in time. Would be last
chance to see
Roughcast's production tonight at the
Wingfield Barns except it's
SOLD OUT.

We
saw the the Joel Coen
Macbeth last month and can opine it is a difficult play but
last night in the Halesworth Cut
Roughcast Theatre were making a
very decent fist of it. We particularly enjoyed the three
witches and the bit of business about Banquo's ghost.
Last two opportunities of the tour to see it this weekend at
Wingfield.

Jazz on a Summer's Day in bits on the telly. There's
a sparkling restoration and presumably that's what will be
showing at the Halesworth Cut this
Sunday afternoon.

Halesworth Co-op petrol station has benefited
from some attractive planting. Last night there sufficient
drivers wanting petrol that staff were managing the queue.
Meanwhile at The Cut the
East Coast Blues Band were prompting
lots of the audience to dance at the front. ♫

Driftwood in celebration of Margaret Orbell 1910-2006 who managed
the Walberswick campsite. The monologue was
directed by James Holloway who passed away
last year.

Vix was unwell from something unpleasant in the ENT dept
(get well soon V) so Beth Keys-Holloway
and Polly Gibbons depped with the Kicks at the Halesworth Cut
last night. They certainly
made the effort and as cousins blended beautifully with
classic RnB, soul and Motown ... l♥ved it.

Last
night in the Halesworth Cut at Roughcast Theatre's Measure
for Measure it took us a while to realise that Duke Vincentio's crutches
weren't a theatrical device (put us in mind of the
silent Petruchio). Wikipedia and the programme emphasised the play is
more than a comedy but both
Tim Hall and
Simon Evans got good laughs whilst the rest of the convoluted narrative and
large cast rolled along very nicely thank you. Roughcast are in
Southwold
tonight, Bungay and Diss next weekend.

Opera-lele |

Yesterday afternoon at the Halesworth Cut the
two person
Opera-lele melodically worked their way through
mainstream opera, adverts and some musicals. Lots of jokes
and the audience who were having a lovely time and had been
encouraged to join in hummed the chorus' part to Nesunn
Dorma ... what a knowledgeable lot.

 A
nice thing about the
Halesworth Cut for a photographer is you can discretely move via the back
of the seating from one side to the other. Not any more
though, on our last visit we
discovered that the gap on the far side has gone in anticipation
of new and reorganised seating this autumn. Buy a little
piece of immortality by sponsoring a seat.

♫ In our uninformed way we suspected that
4 Girls 4 Harps
(like the
Ukulele Orchestra ... odd simile we know) would be one trick
ponies but last night in the Halesworth Cut (like the Ukes)
they proved us completely wrong. The range
of both the repertoire and the sound of the harps was way beyond
the sound track to a dream sequence. Encoring with the
clog dance from
La Fille Mal Gardée was just so right ... next
Sunday concert the
26th of this month.

wine ... it goes on from there.
Last night in the
Halesworth Cut she was
predominantly comic parody
but affectionate and endearing
parody with a little actual
counselling, or perhaps rather
more a group of friends talking
with one of their number who had
opened up a little. She is
a complete one off, catch her if
you can.

last night has moved on since
we last saw it in the Eye bank, it
now includes a running joke about Ed Sheeran with
his lovely red hair and his lovely
blue eyes.

 When
we posted this pic of
Juliet Stevenson at the 2012 High Tide festival in Halesworth
on our Facebook page an Italian
fan commented thought she was murdered in a Miss Marple. This
year's festival starts tomorrow and runs until Saturday 19th and we particularly
fancy the Hackney Colliery Band this Friday and the
conversation with actor Michael Gambon on the 19th.

The
conceit of Where's Elvis? is rock
stars (mostly from the 50/60s) who died before their time arrive in heaven and
then feel the need to sing one of their hits (♫There are three steps to
heaven♫) accompanied by the multi instrument four piece house band with
Roger Eno on keyboards including accordion. Being Mouth to Mouth Theatre
Otis Redding is white,
Janis Joplin is black and
Richie Valens is splendidyly Latino and
looks a lot like Polly Gibbons. We might have got all the rockers if the
visual clues hadn't been projected onto the knicker blinds that make up the
set and notable that author Gordon Thorburn didn't just cross out Jimmy Savile
and write in Kenny Everett. Last night at the
Halesworth Cut tonight and you might be able to get a ticket. |

 The conceit of
The Flint Street Nativity is that seven year olds are
played by
adults
leading to the virgin Mary (copying her mother) declaiming
Me? You want me to dress like tart?! Circle 67's
production last night in the Halesworth Cut had
a good house who were fulsomely enjoying themselves and
frequently applauding. There's a matinee today so two
chances to see the play on it last day.

 At
the Halesworth Cut last night a sizeable
audience sampled the real food in the foyer (we gave the olives
and nuts some serious attention) and then watched the 15 minute
film Diet, Media and Me
made locally and including street interviews in
Lowestoft. Afterwards there was an
open discussion
(the average woman in the UK is size 14),
more pix.

In
Sibton on the way to the matinee of
Five and the Mystery of Sherwood Forest a peacock (no,
not a pheasant a peacock) tried to commit
vehicular suicide. In
Halesworth an original (in both senses and
including the music)
Five
was highly entertaining and the audience totally involved with
much booing and hissing of the baddies by both kids and groanies
... one youthful voice advising those on stage to Look
behind the middle tree! We were particularly
impressed with the
youthful Woofy who stayed in character through out the show,
can't wait for the expected Mouth to Mouth garden tour in the
summer.
  
Afterwards we discovered that the fruit and
veg in the Halesworth
coop was possibly even more rubbish than the
Framlingham coop and
then drove home through falling snow.

Halesworth. Five and the Aladdin Stone is
a thundering yarn full of
good eggs
who we've seen
somewhere else. Mind you
Frau Wotsänamen
is a bit of an odd cove, in fact she's an absolute blister ...
but there is lashings of ginger beer during the interval!
