sa 29 Aug 2009	Gwen Randall's last gig as retiring Framlingham College head was to open the Royal British Legion art show at Brandeston Hall yesterday. We arrived a few minutes late and there was such a good turn out we couldn't get in to hear the justafewwords; then we were so busy snapping people we didn't really take in the show ... but did soak up that it's very broad in flavour and exciting much appreciation in the viewers. The show runs all this bank holiday weekend.
su 23 Aug 2009	Brandeston's historical associations include resident John Lowes (1572–1646) who was found guilty by the Witchfinder General Matthew Hopkins and hanged at Bury St Edmunds; Lady Jane Turnbull died in Brandeston in 1991and has a memorial candlestick in the church, and Sir Ghillian Tolmie Prance curator of Kew Gardens 1988-1999 was born in Brandeston in 1937.

we 18 Mar 2009	Great to see last week such committed running about at Brandeston Hall. Some nine local schools competed in an under nines hockey and mini-rugby (10 mins each way, no kicking (of either ball or opponent), three man scrum that mustn't push) tournament. Sensibly widespread wearing of gum shields, surprisingly rowdy touchline support from rugby mums, touchline heckling from coaches Xavier, how many times have we practiced that? What's the point of hanging two yards off? and the Brandeston girlies won the hockey!

fr 16 Jan 2009	Brandeston Hall pupil Suzie Reid has retained her Suffolk county cross country title and will be competing in the national championship in March. Whilst we're getting all muddy it should be the Fram Flyers cross country round Framlingham Castle this Sunday morning.
fr 12 Dec 2008	Brandeston Hall and Framlingham College have a whole bagful of sporting successes for this term; the 1st XI hockey team, the under 9 hockey team and the under 9 netball A team have all had unbeaten seasons, and 12 year old Kristian Williman has been picked for the under 13 Barbarians, we think as a scrum half. Excellent!
mo 1 Dec 2008	Over the weekend a spare wheel stolen in Hacheston and last week a sit-on mower, a concrete mixer and aluminium scaffolding were stolen from a building site in Brandeston.
fr 28 Nov 2008	Before the clocks changed bringing perpetual darkness Rebecca Cowley and Melissa Embleton organised a ladies charity tennis tournament at Brandeston Hall that raised over £1,000 for the Bobby Moore Fund.
tu 23 Sep 2008	Saturday Brandeston Hall marked it's 60th anniversary with a flypast from a Tiger Moth in the school colours, Peter Stewart the first boy over the threshold in 1948 and Michael Wright the first head boy planted a lime tree. The tree replaces a lime tree destroyed in the 1987 hurricane which was so popular with the children (it was easy to climb) they'd given it the nickname Basil Brush.

30 years after captaining England Roger Uttley was still communicating enthusiasm for rugby at Brandeston Hall this morning. He was passing out guidance Now that's not how a fly half would take it is it? You caught it in your bread basket, what should you be doing? Playing the piano ... hands up! encouragement and just a little bit of sarcasm in the right amounts.

th 12 Jun 2008	This morning parties of years 5 and 6 from the Bedfield, Charsfield, Easton, Laxfield and Robert Hitcham schools joined pupils from Brandeston Hall in their gym for fun mental challenges and games presented by Josh Miller of the Happy Puzzle Company. Though you stayed with your friend you joined a table with children from other schools so you had to work as a team with people you didn't know; then you got to run about outside in the lovely meadow. Perfect!
fr 28 Mar 2008	They just seem to have so much fun at Brandeston Hall. This time it was ghost stories by fire and candle light with storyteller Robert Lloyd Parry in period costume making a very convincing M R James.

we 6 Feb 2008	The Eastern Angles take Cuckoo Teapot out on tour next week starting Wednesday and Thursday in Saxmundham. Over the next three months venues will include Eye, Brandeston, Bredfield, Westleton, Hacheston, Woodbridge and Orford. Take them in before the blue meanie Arts Council finish them off.
we 12 Dec 2007	We may have lost in this year's Rugby World Cup final but who knows? By 2019 maybe these guys will be contributing. Brandeston Hall pupils Jack Scott, Will Owen, Matthew Warren and Jack Pearson were recently invited to play for the Prep School Barbarians; seems like a good start.

fr 28 Sep 2007	At Brandeston Hall this morning youthful models were doing a fine job on the catwalk for The World's Biggest Coffee Morning and as you can see above sometimes even finding the press pen (actually we were wandering round getting in everybody's way). As far as we could see no Naomi backstage hissy fits but some understandable youthful pre-show peekings between the curtains:)
su 15 Jul 2007	All Saint's, Brandeston is a little way from what might be called the centre of the village (well the pub anyway) and hard up against Brandeston Hall. Like many Suffolk village churches its unassuming simplicity is engaging, helped by particularly attractive flower arrangements. It says something about this part of the world that on a very sultry day the church doors were left open and traffic noise did not disturb the concert ... but then All Saints is set back from the road. Organ concerts in churches are odd affairs as the pews force the audience to sit with their backs to the performer, a bit like being on a bus the driver has decided to reverse round his route. Regrettably no duets as family matters prevented Suzanne Williams from singing but soprano Lindsay Gowers and organist Malcolm Russell clearly engaged the audience and they finished with "the" aria from Handel's opera Alcina.
tu 14 Jan 2003	Brandeston Queens des' dinners 33 There was a last minute venue change because Barry from the Boyton Bell's new pub, the Moats Tye Gardeners, is presently opening evenings only. The Queens was serving at least four Adnams beers including the brain damaging 7% Tally Ho, described by the Norwegian landlord as almost a barley wine. The menu is very imaginative if a tiny bit expensive and Spadge much liked the "steak in ale". Conversation included Mollywotsit's Hierarchy of Needs and the pantomime outside The Framlingham Station Sunday night. (first visit subsequent lunch previous lunch)
