The Southwold and Tour de France connection seems tenuous and as unlikely as Johnny Depp in Framlingham.

Expect delays and parking difficulties when the Women's Tour of Britain starts in Framlingham tomorrow (we enjoyed the 2014 stage start in Felixstowe), takes a turn around near the coast, returns to Framlingham and then goes on to finish in Southwold.

This Sunday it's the queen of the classics the 115th edition of Paris-Roubaix.  The bike race is characterised by sections of evil cobbles, we've driven over some and they are nasty.  Known as The Hell of the North not for the cobbles but because of the destruction the race past through after the first world war.  Recently there's been 12 years of dry dustiness so perhaps a wet muddy one is due.  If you want to ride the 75 mile Southwold Roubaix Sunday you need to get your entry in by Thursday.

The Aviva Women's Tour is returning to coastal Suffolk this summer for the third time.  In 2014 it was a start in Felixstowe, an eventful 2015 finish in Aldeburgh and as it seems to be toggling between stage starts and arrivals a stage one departure in Southwold this June.

Next month and for what remains of this month golf clubs across near the coast are offering four week courses for £20, there's one starting today at Ufford and upcoming at Woodbridge, Stonham Barns and Southwold.
